Idyllic South Sea Pearl
The geographical setting perfect, proximity to the sea ideal, and the ethnic diversity simply intriguing.
Down south of Mindanao island in the Philippines is a chunk off the Zamboanga peninsula strewn with unspoiled beaches and rugged terrain of thicket mountains, free from the ravages of typhoon. Venue of my “arrival” on earth, its physical environment my whole playground. This ruffian, rustic city, Zamboanga.
Over three decades of Spanish dominion cannot sideline the overwhelming influences of the Chinese, the Indo-Malays, the native tribes of my beloved Tausugs, the Samals, my favorite gypsies the Badjaos, and the Subanons (People of the River). These personal acquaintances contrived with colorful ethnic backgrounds have become a huge part of my 6system, no doubt.
